ANDY'S HISTORY

Andy Reeve

(Lead Guitar)

Andy's road to the Wallpapers began in the '70's when hia parents and Father Christmas
clubbed together to buy his first acoustic guitar. The usual influences of that era took hold:
The Shadows, The who, The Sweet and the mighty Quo Live album.

Teenage years saw stints in school bands and fledgling groups. And much watching of
N.W.O.B.H.M. bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon, Tygers of Pan Tang and Gillan plus local
heroes such as Black Rose, Ivory Tower and Carl Green and the Scene!!!

Andys' first serious gigging band didn't come along until the '80's when 'Abandon'
hit the pub and club circuit. Despite regular Spinal Tap style drummer changes, Abandon
gigged for 3 years.

A couple of years off the circuit gave Andy a chance to explore other musical avenues
including a touch of theatre work, which involved having to sit in an orchestra pit and
even read music!!! Also some great gigs with the band who would eventually become
'Grunt' at venues such as Middlesbrough Town Hall and Hedingly Cricket Club took
place around this time.

Eventually the pull of a few quid beer money and regular abuse from drunken punters
became too strong and Andy hit the stage again with 'Father Jack'. This band combined
an adventurous set of covers (Basket Case, Ain't Gonna Cry No More, Rocket Man???)
with several original songs in their set. In their final year they released a 9 track CD
of originals and made the final 8 of the Battle of the Bands at the Redcar Bowl.

Another break cane to an end with the formation of 'Under The Influence' in 2003
This band included future Wallpapers bass player Damian. During this time Andy was
asked if he'd be interested in auditioning for Outrageous Wallpaper but decided to
stay loyal to U.T.I. who had already battled through 2 personal changes in their last year.
After 4 years of gigging U.T.I. called it a day at Christmas 2007.

Andy played a couple of gigs as a guest guitarist for another top local band 'Alpha Place'
and continued rehersing up a set of songs with Grunt for future gigs, before the call
came from Outrageous Wallpaper for a second time......
This time it was too good to miss and the rest is history (or is that the past?)
